“Inputs” are defined broadly to include:

  • Seed & chemistry

  • Precision application & nutrient management

  • Digital, including decision support and unified “farm OS”

  • Fintech embedded in agronomy

  • Supply chain improvements

  • New business models, including:

    • Inputs-as-a-service

    • Service-based agronomy

    • Performance-based inputs

    • On-demand farm services

    • Data monetization & licensing

  • Other innovative crop input technologies

We prioritize companies with proven agronomic outcomes that fit retailer workflows, so they can scale responsibly through the channel and speed adoption where it counts: at the counter and in the field.

FAQs

The following are some of the most common questions we receive from applicants and potential applicants of our Challenges. If you have any other questions, please direct them to: Natale Clark at nclark@radicle.vc.

  • Yes. Anyone who has not previously won a Radicle Challenge is eligible to re-apply.

  • AgRogue Growth Partners expects to invest up to $10M total between multiple winners, paired with access to one of the largest ag retail networks in the U.S. to pilot, commercialize, and scale.

  • We’re focused on innovations that create measurable value for growers and for the retailers who serve them—solutions that fit retailer workflows (advisory, ordering/billing/inventory, service/support, data stewardship) and demonstrate field-level ROI.

    Priority areas include:

    • Seed & Chemistry: Seed-, plant-, or soil-applied molecules/materials that perform under biotic and abiotic stress and are retailer-compatible (e.g., stable for handling/mixing), with a clear mechanism/performance hypothesis and a sensible regulatory path.

    • Precision Application & Nutrient Management: Tools that drive field-level ROI and can be deployed through retail operations.

    • Digital: Decision support and unified “farm OS,” sensors, traceability/verification, and crop-protection robotics/computer vision that reduce friction for retail teams and improve grower outcomes; interoperability and data stewardship matter.

    • Fintech (embedded in agronomy): Credit, insurance, and payments integrated into ag platforms, plus improved underwriting using agronomic and operational data.

    • Supply Chain and eCommerce: Automated procurement and smarter inventory, localized formulation near the point of use, logistics optimization, and verification engines that streamline retailer operations.

    • New Business Models:

      • Inputs-as-a-Service (subscription/pay-per-use for seeds, fertilizers, biologicals, crop protection; often bundled with advisory or performance guarantees)

      • Service-Based Agronomy (managed service via digital platforms or field consultants—scouting, prescriptions, remote monitoring)

      • Performance-Based Inputs (pricing or access linked to outcomes such as yield, sustainability metrics, carbon intensity; enables risk-sharing)

      • On-Demand Farm Services (marketplaces for spraying, harvesting, drone imaging, equipment rental)

      • Data Monetization & Licensing (growers or ag retailers license agronomic/sustainability data to downstream buyers, insurers, or regulators)

Strong signals in applications: fit with the retail system, documented field performance/ROI, solid unit economics, a phenomenal management team

    • Companies of any size, anywhere in the world, may apply.

    • There must be evidence of investment to date in the company/technology (cash or in-kind).

    • Applications must be in English.
